Herbalism

I work with herbs from around the world, including Chinese, Western and Ayurvedic. My approach is holistic, i.e. I work with whatever is going on for the individual client, rather than simply trying to 'cure' a disease. My belief is that the body is a great instrument of healing, and that the herbs I use work with our natural defences to strengthen our healthy balance.

I originally trained as a Pharmacist, which has given me a valuable insight into the way in which illness is perceived and described in western medical terms. Concern with the side-effects of some of the drugs which are used in conventional medicine made me return to study the use of natural medicines, including some which were the original source of pharmaceuticals.

I use Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnostic methods to take a full case history. An initial consultation usually takes between an hour and 90 minutes. The cost (as of January 2005) is £40, which includes the first supply of herbs. Subsequent visits, also including herbs, are £30. Repeat medication costs will depend upon the price of herbs at the time.
