Due to a lack of numbers this years event will take the form of a run. Please turn up on the morning as normal and enjoy 2 days riding staying over at Hawes on the Saturday evening. Don't forget to book your digs in Hawes.
The Challenge Rally is open to full members of BTB.Com and to anyone who wishes to enter and apply for weekend membership. Last entry date for the event will be first post on Saturday the 30th July 2005. Final instructions will be posted to accepted participants at least 2 weeks prior to the start. Below are full details including start and finishing locations and times. An accommodation list for the stop over in Hawes, as well as suggestions for start and finish accommodation if required, will be sent along with your acceptance notes . The event will be suitable for all motorcycles, not just big tralies.
Introducing the Coast to Coast Rally Challenge! Our very own navigational rally taking in some of the most beautiful parts of England on the kind of roads we love. Don't let the word rally put you off, you could do this one on Fraz's Harley if you had to. No, our challenge will consist of finding the answers to simple clues scattered across the countryside from Flamborough Head to the West Coast. In fact, I suppose it's a kind of Treasure Hunt, but that doesn't sound Big Biker enough, so Rally Challenge it is. The start will be from Flamborough Head Light House at 08.45 (route cards only available from 08.45 to 09.00 prompt). This should give people time to get there if they don't want to stay overnight. The first day will end in Hawes (18.00 to 19.00 check in), where your invited to join us at the Fountain Hotel for a special test, have a meal if you wish before hitting the bar for a bit of a do into the night. The second day's start will be 09.00 prompt and the route will loop into the Lake District before finishing on the West coast, South of the Lakes, check in time 15.00 to 16.00, which should give most time to get home at a reasonable hour. There will be finisher's awards and 1st 2nd & 3rd prizes awarded on the day. But the main aim is to give everybody 2 days riding on some of the best back roads in England at their own pace, in company with friends or on their own, whatever suits. All you need to do to qualify as a finisher is obtain 25 points per day. This can be achieved by simply visiting the start, finish, mandatory and some 'Bonus checks' before the cut off times, regardless of the number of clues visited. Or visit the start, finish and mandatory checks along with 10 clues (1 point per clue). First, second and third will be awarded for the most points collected over both days. One point is gained per correctly answered clue and 5 points for each Start, Finish, Bonus and Mandatory check, visited within the allotted time. You get the idea! It will, as always, be well researched and well organised to offer all things to all people
Do it now to confirm your place on the National Coast to Coast Rally Challenge 2005. For obvious reasons numbers will be restricted, so don't be disappointed, get your application NOW.

Finally to confirm next years event. It will take place assuming there
is a demand. With this in mind we ask you all to do your bit in promoting
it. This year's event was well under subscribed. If there is not the demand
for such an event, then we'll have to let our sponsors go and call it
a day. It would then be very difficult to re-acquire quality sponsorship
such as this to re-run any similar event in the future. From where we
are the C2C must grow or go, please do all you can to encourage people
to take part as well as promote the event when ever possible. Write something
for the site, send something into Magazines, every little helps. Thanks
again to all who supported the event. Paul C & John B.
