Transcriptions of Historical Records
The genealogy/family history pages of this web site contain a number of transcriptions of historical records, mostly parish registers and censuses. I thought it might help users find what they want if I listed all such transcriptions here, with a direct link to each. There are more to come when I find time to prepare them.
Those transcriptions which are not for a single surname generally have an alphabetical surname index incorporated. I have not had the time to create, and would not have the time to maintain, an overall surnames index covering all transcriptions.
If you want to return to this page after looking at one of the transcriptions, please use the back button on your browser because there is no direct link back here from any of them.

Relevant text lookups are available on request, but the book itself is now available for purchase on high quality CD from Archive CD Books and is thoroughly recommended to all with an interest in this village.

Records of some unusual surnames
I have begun compiling all the records I can find of certain selected unusual surnames which are of family history interest to me. Each will be added to this list when it is set up and goes live. In each case the page also gives some biographical details of the individuals in my own or my wife's family tree, and sometimes other researchers' interests. At present the list is:
RIPPINGALE and variants.
Currently in preparation, but not yet available on-line are: ATHEIS/ATHERS, GLAZZARD, HEMSON.
Browser compatibility statement
I believe web pages should be accessible to all browsers, rather than surfers being browbeaten into switching to some particular browser to see a page. (How many people would be happy if popular TV programmes could only be watched with the latest model of one particular make of TV set?). I am currently going through this site trying to achieve this as far as possible, but I do not have any means of testing it with all the dozens of browsers out there. When I think I have managed it with a page I'll include this paragraph at the end and a suitable logo at the top. If you have trouble viewing any page on this site, especially a page including this paragraph, please let me know (see my contact page), and tell me what browser (name and version) and what operating system you are using, so I can try to do something about it. Thanks.
